We've done 3rd crop in august before, but we got a week ahead in may on 1st crop. There is a slight potential for 5th crop, depending on the frost and the weather. That we've never done before.
2nd and 3rd crop were on the light side, 2nd being 6 loads of chopped haylage and 3rd being a few loads of chopped and about 310 bales of rained on hay. 4th is twice as thick as 3rd crop was and this stuff is pure candy for the girls.
Today I get to take the day off from the farm and go to the county fair with my wife & son. Not too often I get to have a day off between my day job and helping my parents out. This week I'll be putting the corn head on our new (to us) chopper. I got to try it out in some marsh grass and it impressed me. Chops it finer than our Fox, and still uses a little less power.
