Mike, On timing the RCR runs a center gear box with two "side" boxes. The side boxes have the stump jumpers 90 degrees. If you are replacing the center it shouldnt hurt, other than slowing the blade tip speed a bit. But I think the outer boxes are also a ratio too, so you might not loose as much tip speed as you think. You didnt say which box you were replacing.
Three gear boxes? Whats failing the bearings or the gears? Same box each time?
Is something out of balance in the PTO? Are you brush hogging 3-4" trees all the time? Pushing 180 PTO HP through it? The RCR25 is not a cheap light duty hog. Think it is rated at 1 or 1 1/2 in. Just kinda brainstorming what could take out three boxes.
