Growing wheat on wheat

Considering sowing some wheat back into last years wheat ground. Last years crop was relatively disease and insect free, had a little trouble with some rust that set in right after I had applied the 2nd app of quilt. The rust cleared up within 2 weeks. I understand that there is a greater risk of disease and insect infestation going wheat on wheat. I have never done this and was curious to see if it has or hasn't worked for others. My reasoning here is that I already have the ground worked and could make a nice seed bed with another pass and most of the ground is some rough side hill that won't produce real good beans or corn in a dry year. The other option is to start working corn stalks to sow wheat. Thoughts and opinions? Thanks, Erik
