Just did a search on the Essex Tri-Directional (584 hits, BTW)- would you old-timers on here believe that it was 10 years ago?
To save all y'all a lot of research (singular: y'all; plural; all y'all), the Essex Tri-Directional was the invention of the fertile minds of a couple of guys who used to post on here- Clem and Grove r. They could spin a tale with the best of them, and started touting the features of the Essex Tri-Directional. Tri-Directional referred to the fact that the tractor could go 3 directions at once. You can imagine how the features of the tractor were amplified, as the posts continued.
The replies seemed to fall into two camps: Those who advanced even further outrageous claims of the wonders of the ETD, and those who just called BS on the whole thing. Those in the first camp (me included) tended to refer to the second camp as "plodders", who took everything too seriously.
Be that as it may, the legend of the ETD began to take over the board, back in 2002, and finally, the administrators called a halt to it, and decreed that no further ETD posts would be allowed. From that day forward, many continued to refer to the ETD, but only in passing, so the thread wouldn't be poofed.
I was most distressed to find, upon going to ETD in my "Favorites" (which I have carried forward all these years), that my ETD thread cannot be found. I had the only picture of the machine, which looked a lot like a Farmall F-12 with the main deck of the Starship Enterprise photo-shopped onto it. Was devastated to lose it.

This being so, it surprises me to see how many enthusiasts attending rallies, shows etc, seem to be unaware of the importance of this constant attention. Possibly the modern machine with its 6,000 mile or even once
