The spelling police thing used to be more frequent here than it is now- I know it really gets under Dave2's skin, and he's not shy about speaking his mind, so I think that has discouraged it a bit.
Only time I ever correct anyone is if they're trying to get info about a specific item and they mis-spell the name, so I correct it for Googling purposes. But guess that isn't even necessary- some guy wanted to know about his Kabota, so I googled Kabota, and it said "Do you mean Kubota?" and gave me a zillion hits anyhow.
Some guy posted awhile back, and the grammar and spelling was so bad it was impossible to even figure out what he was talking about. To the credit of those here assembled, no one flamed him, everybody just ignored it.
I don't have any trouble with grammar and spelling, but I'd better not, because its what I do for a living. But I certainly appreciate the help I get from those much wiser than me on mechanical and technical questions. That's what this board is all about- chime in if you know something about the subject. I know I've become much more hesitant to post if I'm not sure how firm a ground I'm on- because you can bet there will be someone to set the record straight- hopefully, without turning on the flame-thrower!
And if someone does get a little petty, maybe a mild rebuke or two is in order, then lets move on.
