I say go for it. You are only young once - and this is the time in life when you are not tied down with a spouse, home ownership, etc. Even doing it for one season will be an interesting memory.
My nephew did it one season and was in several states out west and gained some work experience. After that he came back to his home-state... and now works for a big farmer that owns land in numerous states from TX to MN. He may advance in that job - or perhaps he will tire of it and decide on college or military.
Now is your time to live out a dream or two. Enjoy it, but remember to be responsible about saving money for your future!!
