Got a neighbor that rented the farm that joins mine that had pretty much the same thing happen. His was a new JD 2 days old. It broke in the transmission housing at his feet. He was very luck it didn't pin him between the steering wheel and seat. I went up and looked at it and decided right there I'd never buy a mid mount loader. I'm sure it can happen to any tractor but just seems like a lot can go wrong with a mid mount doing heavy work.
I've had 3 new loaders and all had the bracing that goes to the rear axle. I have one now that I run a 80" root grapple on and the grapple weighs over 700 pounds. I move large logs for fire wood with the grapple. I wouldn't think of picking up a 2 ton log with a mid mount after what I saw with my neighbors. When you get it back going again you might want to look at bracing to the rear axle if you're going to do heavy work. Sorry that happened to you.
