My mother recently quit driving because of her age and gave me her car. She lives in Illinois and I live in Texas. I went to the Illinois license place when I picked up the car and asked them about the title transfer and they told me all she had to do is sign the title over to me. Then when I got to Texas I found out Texas has a lot of screws loose. They required a separate transfer of title form which my mother had to fill out and sign. In my mothers condition I couldn't send her a complicated form to fill out and sign so I had to wait 6 months until I could get to Illinois to get the form filled out. If it were me since you are under the gun to take care of the registration I would go to the Texas license office first and find out the protocol of a outgoing vehicle. Then I would have your daughter do the same thing in Tennessee. You can also expect for her to have to pay sales tax on the value of the vehicle. Usually its better to sell her the vehicle for a dollar. From what I understand if its a gift, they tax it more.
