The government also bought travel trailer as temp shelters. They were never used because people cried that they were not big enough. Then the govvernment decided that too many travel trailers sales places would be hurt if they offered them up on auction. Some if not most were giver to the indian tribes. My daughters father in law got one of those, nice one too. His cost was driving down to LA from ND and towing it back. They loaded 2 pickups on a semi flat bed, went down sharing the cost of fuel. Unloaded the trucks, loaded 2 trailers on the semi, hooked one behind each pickup and had a small convoy back. Great way to spen taxpayers money.

Couple of years ago saw a guy with a sign "disabled vet, need money for meds". Pulled into a parking lot, went to him and offered to drive him to the VA hospital and treatment center 6 blocks away and at least get him started in the process. He didn't want that. He wanted money to shop for "meds" from the local pusher.
