We all have our preferences. I would not consider a Chevy or Ford minivan. Look at whats on the road. I'd bet 6 out of 10 are Dodge with the other four being 2 Hondas, 1 Toyota and 1 Kia. Nobody with any car sense would buy a Ford or Chevy minivan unless they drove Fords or Chevy their whole life and had a blind loyalty to that company. Fords are an electrical nightmare and the Chevys are expensive as he*l to fix. Dodge started building Caravans in 1983 so I think they know something about how to build them. Transmission failure at 80,000 to me would indicate it was defective from the factory or simply neglect. Minivans were never meant for towing anything. If you want to tow get a truck. You also run into people who wonder why their engines fail when they never change the oil. We've had 4 Caravans or Grand Caravans over the years and have had no transmission troubles with any of them. I'd probably have an Odyssey but they are twice as much to fix as the Dodge when they go down and used Odyssey prices are insane right now. I think someone mentioned above about Dodge front ends. That is a weak point but keep any vehicle long enough and see if you don't have to replace struts, ball joints, tie rods etc..

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
