We used to have abundant ringnecks here, fox, coyote and what have you made short work of them, I have not seen a one in 10 or so years. I saw one outsmart a large healthy red fox several times, he lasted a year or so around here, surprisingly, fox almost got him by the tail feathers once. I had heard the ringneck pheasant calls, went over to look, there was a fox sniffing around, could not see the pheasant and paid no attention to me at all, really strange, pheasant calmly snuck away and carefully got distance in the thicket, fox never figured it out, I stood right in front of the fox, eventually walked away, would have been an easy shot if I was armed.
The whitetail around here, in this immediate vicinity, never seem to get any older than what you have there, but we don't have the law on having at least 4 points and a certain spread, I kinda think we should. Younger seems to be better meat, seems what they browse and feed on helps a lot too. I've seen game cam shots in other areas more mountainous, much larger or older, I'm always like why can't we get those around here LOL, but the heck with it, we what have is fine and I'm thankful for whats provided regardless, sounds like a good hunt!
