The Polaris 440 fan cooled engine is a good reliable engine. I would have no reservations using it. Just make sure the fan belt is in good shape or replace it. As others have said, it was designed to be run in cold temps. That being said, there are snowmobile grass drag races held all summer long. You might want to run a little heavier on the oil mix to start with if you're running in temps over 40 degrees.
