I think Dave2's primary problem is that he couldn't separate his disagreement with a post from becoming a personal rant against the poster.
I'm a case in point- as most regulars on here know, I'm pretty good at spelling and grammar- I'd better be, because that's what I do for a living. But I realize that many here are smarter than me on technical things, and that good information doesn't tend to come out if the poster is belittled by those here assembled. So the only time I ever corrected anybody's spelling was when it would affect their ability to find information- that is, if someone is looking for information on his "Alice Chamblers" tractor, the first step is to spell it right, and I would, on ocassion, suggest the proper spelling so a Google search would yield some information. Dave2 would have none of that, and would immediately accuse me of "getting my panties in a wad" about spelling, while I was actually just trying to help. I don't have panties, Dave, and I resent being belittled by one who doesn't even "get it".
His stance was always that it was his way or the highway, and I guess I'm really not so sad that he is gone. He had little to contribute outside his innumerable questions about mundane things, and it got a little tiresome.
