True story: When I was in HS, there were numerous vehicles (pickups) in the student parking lot that had guns in them. The boys that belonged to these pickups would get into the usual quarrels and occasional fistfights and mischieve that teenagers get into. Not once did anyone shoot anyone or pull a gun on anyone or threaten anyone with a gun. We just didn't think that way.
Now we have 24/7 in your face mass media, gotta have it now, no patience. If you watch cable news you'd think the world is a bad dark place and constantly on the verge of destruction. But when we get out and talk to our neighbors and visit in the community we know that's not the case.
This latest tragedy is a very complex issue and unfortunately some groups are using it as a political football to advance an agenda.
