I think what people are forgetting is that when you put money down on something, the person is supposed to hold it for you. On the other hand, when you put money down on something, you are saying you are BUYING it. If you don't come after it, you LOOSE your money. Putting money down on something does not mean that if one day before you get it, you decide you don't want it, you get your money back. That's not the way it works. People need to remember that when you put money down on something, it's yours and you need to either get it paid on out and picked up, or loose the money down. Why would any of you expect a seller to take half (or whatever)of his asking price, and then just wait until you get the money, or find a better one cheaper, or whatever, and then expect your money back. Putting money down means that that money belongs to the seller. Now if the seller is a good person, and doesn't care, then he could give the downpayment back if the buyer backs out, but should not be expected to.
