Buckeye...not any experience of my own with the Grands...lot's of experience with Regular Cherokees...the 4.0 is a straight six, been around in one form or another since the 60's as an AMC then whomever else has owned Jeep, about as bullet proof as they come, had one with 325,000 on it, no work other than a couple radiators, normal maintenence, and a sensor or two...still be driving it if it had a rust free piece of sheet metal left on it. Like you I have heard that the Select-Trac 4wd system (as opposed to the Sensa-Trac or what ever they called it,) have heard some moans about the 4.something V6 they put in them. The 5.2 is a 318 which kinda speaks for itself: Great Engine. Bout the same mileage out of the 5.2 and the 4.0. Hope it helps a lil
