In the 80's I was told by my accountant that I qualified for free meals at school for my 4 daughters.
I did not take it.
I commend you for making it through the 80's without the handouts. If it weren't for the handouts in the 80's many more would have been done farming than what there were. I was 30 years old had 4 kids and trying to hang on. Had to take the money. To be ready for another run like the 80's you have to stay with the programs or you could lose out big time.
Where were you through the 80's?
Again I will say not to take something offered to you when can is a bit foolish.
I have to farm and work to get my handouts.
The ones on welfare and food stamps can do nothing and still get them. I also pay more in income tax every year than the handouts I recieve.
You do know the the food stamps and school lunch program is over 80% of the money doled out in the farm bill.
