Mustang Ranch was a training op for the USN for many years. When we were deployed to NAS Fallon as an Air Wing. the photo planes would make daily runs over the ranch. The objective was as if it was Op HQ of a enemy army. Determine what vehicles came and went, how long they stayed, repeat visits, etc etc.. And use Ir to see what vehicles were parked there, but were not there when photo taken ( Cool spots from shade under vehicles) We would get our BDA (bomb damage assesments) and run like hell to see the Mustang photos. We had two million laughs looking at L.A. vehicles, and Nev bigwig vehicles. And especialy when we saw photos of our own pilots cars there! I think one reason the feds ( IRS) shut it down was they were not sure what the Navy Intel had in their files that might harm the other Departments. I know of a number of embarasing episodes. Great chapter for a book.
