What? I've never heard it put that way. The way I was taught the 'magazine well' holds a detachible clip. It's called a 'clip' if it holds ammunition and is not a part of the weapon itself. Now if the amminution is stored in a chamer that is part of the weapon tiself then that chamber is called a 'magazine'. In that case the ammunition is often loaded with another device that holds ammunition, and is not attached to the weapon, and that is called a 'stripper clip'.
Basically the difference between a clip and a magazine is wether it's a part of the weapon or not. So, technically when the clip is loaded into the weapon it then becomes a magazine until such time as it is removed. All in all the terms are used to interchangibly that in the end it just doesn't matter as anyone tou talk to will know what your saying regardless of what you call it.
