I run rotella 15-40 year round. Transmission thing you read about was to put a triple disk torque convertor in it and a stronger valve body. 47re is not able to handle all the torque of the cummins very well. Also invest in a fuel pressure gauge for in the cab. These trucks are notorious for the fuel lift pump to go out and evetually ruin your main injection pump.A full set of gauges for trans temp exhaust gas temp and boost not a bad idea if you do a lot of pulling or add an programmer or bigger injectors. Fuel pressure should be around 15psi at idle and no less than 10 driving down the road. These trucks have a lot of little quirks. Especially the autos. cumminsforum.com is a good place to get some info on these trucks. Some of its good some of its bologna. Fuel additives are a topic discussed alot it seems and depends who you talk to wether there worth it or not.. Some guys say its snake oil some guys swear by it. I dont swear by it but my truck seems to run better with it since the ultra low sulfur fuel came out. I love my cummins and hate the dodge.
