We need an honest answer or what you will really be using the truck for. The GMC/Chev has a new 1500 with direct injection gassers that will be cheaper per mile than a diesel truck for the next 300,000 miles. The 2500-3500 direct injection models arrive next fall. In all honesty 990 out of 1000 pickup owners really need a mid size econo vehicle and a 3500lb 5'X10' landscaping trailer. Of that 1000, 9 need a HD gasser 1500 with the trailer option. The last 1 in a 1000 can honestly use the diesel option in a 2500 or 3500. Ever look into how the EPA messed up the diesel light truck market. The introduction of common rail injection has made injection system service more frequent and expensive. We could talk about cooled EGR and variable wastegates. The extra costs of oil changes, higher fuel cost per gallon. The more expensive battery, charging system and starter. Then for a real downer. Lets consider service on a 100,000+ mile diesel with urea injection, particulate filter and cat converter.
