IN SOME CASES, medicine is cheaper in Canada because the Canadian government tells the pharmaceutical companies what they will charge in Canada, similar to what WalMart tells their suppliers what they will charge WM for their goods. If you don't meet that price, you won't be selling your product. The big problem, in both the U.S. and Canada, is counterfeit medicine. How do you know that the medicine that you buy from Canada is the real thing or a knock-off made in India (or worse)? 60 Minutes did a show a couple of years ago on fake medicine that is sent into the U.S. through the mail and gets stopped. We have huge warehouses full of the stuff. The worst part is that the U.S. Postal service catches the stuff, and because of antiquated postal laws, send the stuff right back to the return address to the country that it came from.
