What kind of roof and siding on the barn? If the barn has old wood shingles on the roof, it is a whole lot different situation than if the barn has a sheet metal roof.
Other things to consider is prevailing wind direction and when you would be having a fire in the shop. And how dry it ever gets.
Where I live, people just do not burn anything, either in a stove in a building or in a burn barrel, or out in the open during the dry part of the year--July, August and September, since the chance of causing a wildfire is very great. However those months are also usually hot, and you wouldn"t want a fire in the shop, especially if you were trying to work in there.
If I had a shop 85 feet from my barn in my location, I would not worry much about having a wood stove and chimney. That is assuming that the barn and shop had nonflammable roofs and the barn usually had closed doors. I would never use the wood stove when I didn"t think it was safe.
However,,,the comment about talking to your insurer is good advice, and it might save you a lot of grief down the road. Being canceled or having a claim denied can be a real hassle and very expensive. Good luck!
