I don't know what it is about the damn things but they just creep me out.
Big ones, small ones, doesn't matter.
Snakes, bugs, rats, I couldn't care less if any of them crawled right into bed with me for the night. But if I so much as spot a spider on a wall 20 feet away, my heart rate goes up and I get all jumpy.
Totally involuntary.
And I'm ashamed to admit I've hurt people for thinking they're funny trying to scare me with them once they've found out about my phobia - it's THAT bad.
I'm pretty mellow laid back guy - but that phobia is the one thing that'll set me off in the blink of an eye, it's not a joke.
I wish I could get over it, and probably have to some degree over the years, but I'd still call it a phobia without a doubt.
