I couldn't afford an Eco-boost but didn't really need one either. All the Eco-boosts were crew cabs with more options than I needed. I got the standard 3.7 300+ HP V6 in a Supercab and it has more than enough get up and go. A good friend is a Ford tech. and says the Eco-boost is proving to be a very reliable and excellent engine. I think if you put 98% of people in either of the V6 Fords, made them wear ear plugs and let them go for a test ride, they wouldn't be able to say they were driving a V6. I don't see how a V8 would be any smoother than a V6. Actually a straight 6 is supposed to be the smoothest engine but my V6 is super quiet unless you step on it and it downshifts 3 or 4 gears.
