What really fried me when I was in college was there were students who worked just as hard as any athlete preparing themselves for academic or performing competitions, yet when you picked up a newspaper all you got was 8 pages of sports and not a word about the other students.
I once did a study of both the Omaha and Lincoln, NE newspapers for two weeks during the OFF season for football, and found for every column inch of text devoted to academics, five were devoted to sports. It would be worse than that during the football season.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought schools were supposed to be about academics.
