Another subsidy that is gone is the subsidy that had to be paid to corn farmers to keep them in business, so they could sell corn into a feed market only willing to pay $1.70 per bushel, while it cost the farmer $3.50 to grow that corn.
Now the ethanol market creates enough demand in the corn market to allow corn farmers to operate at a profit without those subsidies.
Of coarse livestock /poultry feeders hate the ethanol industry as it makes them pay fair market value for corn, and not the highly subsidized $1.70 per bushel for corn that cost $3.50 to grow.
