Well I can almost guarantee if you had followed these procedures you wouldn't have a barn.

A good friend had his barn catch fire and the barn had about 40 hogs in a back pen. Fire department came and he wanted to go around and let the hogs out of the rear of the barn. Fire department wouldn't let him and police had to put him in handcuffs. All the hogs burned up and he could have safely opened a rear door and let them out. How sad that must have been to have to listen to the hogs squealing as they burned up.
You did the right thing and saved your equipment and saved your barn. Quick thinking paid off.
