[quote="dpendzic"](quoted from post at 12:10:34 02/09/13) Unfortunately I had a structure fire to respond to last night about midnight--and then a motor vehicle accident at 6 am this morning what a job to clear the snow off my pickup to get out!
we had a lot of frozen slush under the 18 inches of snow.[/quot
I was a volunteer for 35 years. I always tried to keep the way clear to get out in case of a call. Of course last night was out of the ordinary. I had a piece of fiberglass sheet about 16"x 48" that I would put under the wipers in the winter in order to not have to scrape. A lot of the guys had them. I was first or second on scene for most calls for many years. Are you able to stay warm at winter time structure fires? My job was almost always inside until the fire was out, then go back to the station to put air packs back in service.
