We had a similar experience with an IH 806 we bought used. I sware, by the time we sold that JUNK heap, I thought the model number was the bare minimum of things that could and would go wrong, and the serial number was closer to the actual number of things that whent wrong on the one we had. So I'm exaggerating a lot, but it sure felt that way. Why we didn't just ship it to China as scrap metal I'm not sure. Think dad got more out of it at public auction than scrap price, as it looked nice, but was plum neare worn out inside. That's both the newest tractor we've ever had, and I'd say the only one that gave more problems than was tolerable. The rest of the tractors have needed rings/ sleeves/ etc, or a clutch, and one needed rear end work, but not much more.
