So, what's your opinion of the horsemeat 'scandal'?
My opinion is meat is meat. Why do we eat cows but not horses? Because horses are "beautiful, intelligent, companionable" creatures, and cows are not?
I've owned both horses and cattle, and I think cows are also beautiful, intelligent, and companionable, too! Wouldn't trade my 4-H days showing my heifer for anything.
I own a couple of draft horses now, and I probably wouldn't eat my own horses, but I could see picking up some horsemeat from the freezer section (I know - it's the whole "I didn't have to know that particular animal" syndrome!)
So why is one acceptable, but the other not? (by the masses - not the vegetarians/vegans/PETA people!)
By the way, I know dogs and cats are main diet staples in some parts of the world - I wouldn't eat them, but I don't think I have the right to tell others what to eat!
