You know what it costs to operate your equipment per acre/hour!? You know what your time/wages is worth!?
Back into it from a known cost of doing business approach. Then decide if its worth doing based on what the market will pay.
The problem with finding the going rate is you don't know if the guys your asking know what they're doing.
Nothing screws up the market worse than newbies who don't know what they are doing and they're only marketing skill is to be cheaper. The newbies go broke not charging enough and the guys who know what it costs can't make a living.
A quick example in the trucking business: fuel is $4.14 a gallon that translates into about .75 per mile for fuel. Drivers typically make about .40 per mile = $1.15 per mile. Truck needs repairs and maintenance and co wants a profit. The point is some drivers/companies are accepting the $1-1.2 / mile rates brokers are offering. They can't stay in business consistently operating at those rates.
