Translation of lyrics from a song in another language is kind of a crap-shoot. You never know what you're gonna get. An example: most people have heard (or should hear) Pavorotti singing "Nessun Dorma", the famous aria from "Turandot". (You Tube.) When you hear (and see) him singing it, you think that this song must be an expression of the most sublime and transcendant achievements of the human spirit, a soaring and passionate celebration of all that is good and perfect.
Nah. When you read the lyrics in English, and learn their context within the opera, you find that it's much ado about nothing much. Very beautiful and moving ado, however.
