I was also surprised at that soil...It was bone dry on top. We have had nearly 3 weeks of beautiful spring weather and no rain.... I would say our soil is similar to most other places including the States, the diffference is in the drying . We will (usually) get some rain, sunshine and frost to break the soil down slowly so it doesn't bake into concrete. Sometimes we do get fast drying and you cannot make the ground ready, so we wait for rain, then cultivate the next day or two. Sam
