235 is 235mm tread width 75 means side wall heighth is 75% of the tread width (176.25mm)
235mm Wide, 75% of tread width.
If you remember back in the 60's,70's they would put tires they called 50's on hot rods or street cars I should say and they looked wide because they were so low profile. The side walls were only 50% of the tread width.
