I noticed the big box stores handling Premium dimensional lumber rather than grade 2 or 3. I know that makes a difference in price.
Having built my house and several add-ons to it and previous houses, it helps to have quality wood in getting things to fit. Course once you get it packaged, it really doesn't make all that much difference.
I say that because I live on active soil and the subsoil moves around constantly. Sometimes 1/4 of the house is off the blocks but it still holds together as a unit.
But for current projects, I do appreciate the better grade material.
One thing about money I have learned and never looked back. When you have spent it, it is gone forever. What you did with it may be with you the rest of your life.
So, you have to ask yourself what really matters? I know that if you don't have it you can't spend it, but maybe you need to be more creative in the acquisition process.
