Met with our CPA yesterday. My sister and I sold the family farm last fall, and half the cost basis goes to when our mother died in 1997 and the other goes back to when our father died in 1985.
I don't have an exact figure on capital gains tax yet, but it's going to be a bunch. Our CPA is a sharp gal, if there are any loopholes or angles to be played, she knows about them but she can only do so much.
