Hey Jim, unless you just want a 290 Deere planter for nostalgic reasons there may be a planter that better suits your needs. The later 7000 finger pickups are pretty good and get you disk openers rather than shoes. The 800 and 900 series IH units are disk opener style. The 800 and 900 were also available in ground driven versions. They can even be made to no-till if you wish.
