I use a 50 gallon plastic trash barrel, and Arm & Hammer Washing soda from Walmart . I've cleaned old rusted wheels , vises , and the pan seat on my Farmall S.A.. Some tips : First ,use a charger that isn't automatic , that kind won't put out any current without sensing a battery . The neg. lead from the charger goes to the part you are cleaning Remove all grease first , it will act as an insulator and the rust can't react with the current. The process is line of site , so you will have to rotate your part once in a while. I use rebar for my electrodes , but any kind of steel will do. I welded 2 grids and placed them so the part hangs in the middle. The electrodes dissolve slowly , my 1/2 inch rebar lasted about 6 weeks cleaning 12 " wheels. It seems to help if you scrape the brown scum off the electrodes once in a while. Good luck !
