I bet that 504-1 has it down pat. I had a Chev pickup with hydraulic boost brakes. Worked great!!!
So you need to get the brake system working just like you would on any car/truck. The hydraulics are just for boost. You should have good hard peddle with out the hydraulics working. I would bet that everything on the brakes is stuck in the wheels, or transmission, where the brakes are.
Chev used it on their heavy pickups, 3/4 ton and bigger. On the pickups they sued the power steering fluid to work. The truck I have is a 1985 Chev 6.2 liter diesel. The also used it on gas trucks too. My Grand Father had a 1976 Chev heavy 3/4 with a 400 gas that had the same system.
