bill from scotland said: (quoted from post at 14:59:06 05/01/13) Each time we take or return on a flight to Canada or to the USA I sit at take off thinking, how well would a fast bike compare with the aircraft. I know the plane accelerates very quickly to a take off speed of around 150 mph, I think up to that speed a fast bike would do well. What do you guys think, am I way off.
A really fast crotch rocket will "blow the doors off" a loaded 747/757/67/77/airbus from brake release/green light to 100 KTS./115 MPH. without breaking a sweat! probably to a higher speed as well. The bike would also beat every fighter to the same speed.
Jet aircraft are notorious for their lethargic acceleration from a standstill.
