Putting axles under a nice used 14 ft Knaphide flatbed off a truck to haul stuff around the farm. Frame width on flatbed is 34" as standard but has triangular braces out at each crossmember.
My plan was to get the rear frame of a cab chassis 1 ton or F450 with 34" rails (hopefully with a hoist) and gut the diff and bolt the bed on.
Can't find any old trucks to cut up for cheap so I found a pair of new 6000 lb axles c/w brakes springs and hangers for about 750$ but can't have that much over hang from springs to backing plates.
Is it pretty standard to just weld some 2x2 1/4" wall tube under where each spring hanger is?
