Bullish!t An AC induction motor depending on rotor resistance and if single or three phase has a definite torque curve with a peak at approx 80-90% slip. That is 80-90% of synchronous speed. 1-10HP motors can have a Peak Torque of 2 even 3 times above rated torque at 80-90% slip. Below the approx 80% slip rpm. An induction motor, a single phase in particular falls on it's face and has only 110-150% of rated torque. If you want electric motor torque, use a DC series if you don't care about speed regulation. A shunt motor for price , reliability and control. A series compound wired differential . Best all around results operating an electric motor is a three phase supplied with a VFD. The reciprocating engine can't compete with it's 110-150% torque rise compared to even a single phase induction motor's torque rise.
