Bought a new to me 7 wheel in line Vicon wheel rake. Always wanted to try one out and this came at a reasonable price. It also needed a wheel to bring the count up to 7, bought Vermeer wheel, new, and installed it yesterday.
The rake had a flat tire and today's project was to fix the tire. Wheel looked rusty around the valve stem hole and I had the wheel taken off the rim. Decided the $5 fees was better that me struggling to get it off. Wheel was indeed rusty around the hole to the point that I felt the hole needed reinforcing. Usuall when I have this to do, I drill a new hole in the rim and weld up the old one. This wheel has a u shaped fiece of steel around the valve stem to protect it and I didn'e want to have topcut it off and reweld it at a new hole. I found a washer of the correct size to fit the valve stem and welded it over the old hole, on the outside. Had to do some welding and grinding smooth on the inside, then used up some old spray bombs on the wheel. Not original color. Misplaced my good Ken Tool tire spoon and had to make do with a pry bar, hope I didn't pinch the tube.
Used my next to last hot patch I had in the referigator, hope it holds.
Anybody have any experience with the Vicon rake? Any pointers?
