A deck leveled the wrong way has to cut the grass twice. Once in the front and again in the back. Plus it will not discharge correctly. The clipping cut in the back work away from the discharge chute. It takes almost twice the horse power to mow that way.
Years ago when dealers and companies would have competitive machines displayed to be tried against theirs it was a common practice to miss level the decks on the competitive mowers to make them mow bad and pull hard.
I check my deck level several times each year. It is not hard to do and you can easily knock you deck out of level by catching it on a root,rock, or something else hard. I also have done it loading them on a trailer if the top of the ramps are too steep. The deck drags as the tractor goes on the trailer. It can bend the linkage.
