I don't know how it works on a live PTO, but on my Ford 2000, I engage the PTO (with the engine stopped, of course), remove the two grease zerks (or one plug and one grease zerk, depending on what you have on that overrunning clutch), and rotate the outer portion of the overrunning clutch until I find one end of the roll pin that is holding the clutch onto the PTO shaft.
Then, I bought a drift punch that is just a tiny bit smaller in diameter than the roll pin, so I can hammer the roll pin out of the overrunning clutch.
Takes a couple of minutes to install or a couple of minutes to remove.
