Figured I"d start here, not sure what forum to post in... I have a 1959 Oliver 880 gas. I"m looking for a mower of some sort, something that can be used to keep the tall grass short and also be used to cut hay for baling (some day). There are some semi mounted sickle mowers I"m kind of looking at, but not sure if they would be a good fit for the Oliver. I"d love to get a pitmanless mower, and moght keep looking until I find one, but those always seem to be out of my price range. Would a JD No. 8, a JD No. 5, or a n IH 27V be a good fit for the Oliver? I think they are all 7" bars, which is okay as I don"t have a lot of acreage to hay, and a couple places I"d like to cut there is maybe 15 to 20 feet between tree rows. I"m also considering SP swather, either a JD 800 or a MF 655. You guys have been helpful with other questions, so any comments are welcome.
