I don't have a 336 any more but IIRC, there can be three different things. First there is a wiper that is supposed to "wipe" the knot off. It is malleable, in other words you can bend it to bring it in contact with the bill hook. Second there is the bill hook tension. Just follow the bill hook shaft back and you will see the nut that applies the tension at the back end. Third is wear. They can get a deep enough groove worn in that the other adjustments can't cure it. You will need to clear most of the hay out and roll it over by hand to see how closely the wiper comes to the hook.
