It is ironic that you post about uninformed statements and make two uninformed statements of your own. First, a bad cement job is not a cause of a blow out of its self, a bad cement job would pose a condition that can lead to a blow out if other mistakes are made and the cement job is not corrected. Secondly, there was nothing fatally wrong with the deep water horizons BOP -- there was some over due or postponed maintenance but the reason that the BOP did not close is because the well pressure blew the drill string up and the drill string buckled inside the much larger ID of the BOP which prevented the pipe rams from closing and prevented the shear rams from shearing the pipe and then sealing. Bad management was a factor, but the Senior rig personnel are supposed to know what they are doing and have a duty to take precautions to ensure the well is secure.
