A while back the discussion was how to keep mower decks clean. Mine are always full after each mowing. I took the decks off both mowers( JD LX176 & LX 188), cleaned them good, power washed, painted them yellow and then painted them with slip-plate (graphite paint). Mowed the yard yesterday, didn't help at all. Still had 3 scoop shovels of dirt and grass from under the deck. It might help if I had a good stand of grass, but I've been trying for 10 years and I still can't get a decent yard to grow. Mostly sand and weeds. Someone said he only mows when the grass is dry. I don't know where he lives, but around here, you can mow in the middle of the afternoon, 90°, no rain for 3 weeks, grass is wilting from the heat and it still sticks under the decks. I took a piece of pipe and drilled 4 holes in it, hooked it to the hose, park mower over it and run the water with the deck engaged and it gets a little bit off, still not clean enough. Looks like I'm stuck scraping under the deck each time I mow. Chris
